If you want to understand why Arasaka feels larger than a faction in Cyberpunk 2077, start with its tower. The current building in Corpo Plaza is not the original headquarters; it is the replacement built on the site of the 2023 bombing. The company kept part of the old structure as a memorial, then placed its tallest new symbol around it. That decision gives the tower a specific role in the game: every visit puts Arasaka's present next to the damage it wants Night City to remember on its own terms.
Before the Ruins, Arasaka Claimed Corporate Plaza
The original Arasaka Towers served as the corporation's North American headquarters in Corporate Plaza. That location put Arasaka's banking, manufacturing, and security divisions at the center of Night City's public life, long before V became involved. The tower made corporate reach visible: a Japanese megacorporation was not operating at the city's edge but occupying its most important address.
The site also carries Johnny Silverhand's history. In 2013, Johnny's assault connected to Alt Cunningham brought violence to the tower. During the Fourth Corporate War, the conflict returned to the same landmark. The 2023 bombing destroyed the towers, and the ruins became part of Night City's Hot Zone. The location's history is therefore not a straight rise from headquarters to skyscraper; it is a record of Arasaka losing the building and keeping the address.
The Rebuilt Tower Made the Crater Part of the Brand
After the Unification War ended in 2070, Arasaka was welcomed back to North America and chose its old Night City site for a new office center. The corporation cleared the remaining ruins, built the new tower, and left a portion of the original structure as a memorial. The memorial is the telling detail. Arasaka did not erase the bombing completely; it preserved enough of the wound to frame the rebuilt tower as the answer to it.

The rebuilt Arasaka Tower atrium preserves a corporate monument above the old ruins.
By 2077, Arasaka Tower is the tallest structure in Night City and the corporation's West Coast headquarters. The in-game database describes it as the center of Arasaka's financial and military operations in both Americas. From street level, that description becomes architecture: the tower is high enough to dominate Corpo Plaza, while the memorial anchors its polished future to a disaster the city has not forgotten.
V Meets Arasaka as a Workplace Before Meeting It as a Family
Corpo V starts inside Arasaka's system, with a meeting in the tower that ends in an order to remove them from the company. That opening makes the tower a workplace before it becomes a battlefield. Arasaka's power is first experienced as a manager's call, a revoked position, and a fast descent from corporate office to the street.
The Heist then shows how the building fits into the Arasaka family conflict. V and Jackie steal the Relic from Konpeki Plaza, not from the tower, but Saburo Arasaka's murder turns the stolen prototype into the center of a succession crisis. Yorinobu's takeover, Hanako's loyalty, and Takemura's response all lead back to the corporation whose headquarters V saw from the inside.
The Relic also explains why Arasaka's buildings matter less than the system they contain. Soulkiller, Mikoshi, and engram technology make a person's identity something Arasaka can record and control. The tower's public offices and its hidden research are parts of the same chain: one manages careers and contracts, while the other promises that even death can be administered.
The Endings Turn the Headquarters into a Verdict
When Hanako offers to help V, the Arasaka path sends V back into the corporation's structure. The tower becomes the setting for a solution negotiated on Arasaka's terms, with access to Mikoshi tied to the company's answer to the Relic. Cooperation does not mean Arasaka stops being dangerous; it means V accepts the institution's right to define what happens next.

Arasaka Tower becomes a target when V rejects the corporation's terms.
The alternative routes reverse that relationship. V can attack Arasaka Tower with Rogue, the Aldecaldos, or alone in the most dangerous version of the assault. The same headquarters that serves as Hanako's route to authority becomes the target that V must breach to reach Mikoshi without accepting her offer.
That is the useful way to read Arasaka Tower's history before choosing an ending. The rebuilt building is not just a backdrop for the final missions. It is the place where the corporation turns a destroyed headquarters into a memorial, a memorial into legitimacy, and legitimacy into a demand that V accept its version of survival.
